A move that seemed to have mixed signals from Chiefs fans was the move of Sammy Watkins to the land of the Arrowhead. Watkins, after a few injury plagued seasons in Buffalo, never seemed to really catch on with Jared Goff in LA where Goff is still working on his deep ball game. Watkins’ new quarterback Pat Mahomes is good with his feet and has a very strong arm which should be a positive for Watkins.
Some seem to believe that Watkins could be the third option in Kansas City behind Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce, which could be true, but this could open Watkins up to getting a lot of single coverage which should make him very viable if he can stay healthy. Watkins may not be putting up 20 points ever week but COULD put up some big performances. If Watkins were to stay in LA I would put him somewhere around a 7th round pick, but now that he’s a true #2 I think he can could go as high as mid-5th round.

It may seem risky in the 5th round, but it’s lower risk than reward. I think the move was a positive for KC, as they have the dynamic RB-WR-TE threat but lack a true #2 receiver. The passing game in the NFL has gotten much more complex and Andy Reid is a master when it comes to spreading the ball around.
One thing that sticks out to me is the speed this offense has put together, it should be a nightmare for opposing defenses. Besides Denver, Oakland and LAC twice a year is something to think about as well. I think the talent allocation has evened out. Keep an eye on Hill and Kelce on the draft board as well, their production could alter slight with the addition of Watkins.
